I am Angelo Gianan Cruz a

Graphic Designer and Filmmaker

based in Taytay, Philippines.

I started as a Publicity information Officer on our Student Council in High School. I created, conceptualized, and curated publicity materials for the organization. Then, I became the layout artist of our school publication.

After, I directed two short science documentary films. In college, I volunteered and became a part of the publicity committee of UP Rizaleños, UPLB UFC, and UPLB CEAT FC. I had the opportunity to set the art direction and branding of one of the biggest events in campus.

Film Concept

Philippine geography enabled Filipinos to benefit from its bounteous natural water resources. We are fortunate to have an archipelago that provides ideal agricultural land and water. Both land and aquatic farming market a sustainable food supply as our fishing industry spreads throughout the country.

In Rizal province, Fisheries Statistics of the Philippines 2016 recorded a volume of 76,000 metric tons of fish production where 59% comes from the aquaculture sector. The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) named Laguna de Bay, the largest lake in the country, as the top supplier of seafood in the province measuring 92 000 hectares.

Amidst our rich resources, different fishing grounds in the country suffer from anthropogenic destruction that mostly includes domestic and industrial waste pollution. Like in Laguna Lake, the size of the habitual areas for marine life decreases as coastal regions near cities and populated towns contribute to water pollution. Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) cites that 81% of the lake's devastation was caused by improper waste disposal.

These figures and facts, it amplifies that we may experience a shortage of fishable water in the country. As waste consumes the lake in Rizal, it showed that coastal areas of different bodies of water will most likely die and outspread, polluting more regions from meters to kilometers to hectares of the lake.

In the future, the problem is obvious there would be no more water to fish on, no more to catch, and no more to eat.

The solution is simple, aquaculture will help our community restore and replenish different aquatic ecosystems.

Aquaculture is the farming of fish, aquatic plants, and other organisms in the water. It also advocates responsible fishing practices and the protection of our diverse water habitats. Together with the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center - Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC-AQD), it founded Binangonan Freshwater Station (BFS) to monitor and conduct research about Laguna de Bay's ecology.

Furthermore, aquaculture aims to restore, educate and cultivate: To restore and protect the health of different bodies of water in support to end water pollution; to educate fishermen about environmentally friendly fishing methods and to help propagate fish production, and to cultivate our water to maintain its natural habitats for fishes and plants.

To involve our community in aquaculture is to sustain our natural water resources. This will promote sustainable fisheries and ensure food security.

The information will be gathered from the different organizations that focus on aquaculture and fisheries such as the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center-Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC-AQD), Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA), and Binangonan Freshwater Station (BFS) while we are going to initiate our own interview to recognize opinions from the fishermen in Binangonan, Rizal near Laguna Lake.
